Here is an update from Jake and I with a couple pictures:
A couple days of overall crushing started with me taking the GRE down in Denver, followed by a trip to DIA to pick up Jake. Once we reached Vail, we tried our best to support the Shpall family as much as possible. Far too soon the next morning, I dropped groggy Jake at his grandpa's condo and went to work my magic healing people. Needless to say, I didn't do a whole lot of healing, but met up with Jake and his Grandpa and his Aunt at noon. They dropped Jake and I off on the side of the interstate halfway up Vail Pass and we took off up the East Vail Chutes on the Two Elk Trail. After about an hour of serious crushing, we stopped to take these epic panoramic pictures of the Gore Range in the background. We continued on trekking through Outer and Inner Mongolia Bowls where we ran into a bit of rain but some amazing views of the back bowls of Vail with some clouds rolling in. We continued our hike across the entire Vail Ski Area to the gondola and began our descent. It took us about 30 minutes to descend 3450 ft. I think that is how fast some people ski it, but oh well. It only involved a small amount of me rolling down the mountain drawing a bit of blood. Jake fared much better, but by the end, his knees were a bit sore. In the end, it was about a 14 mile hike with about 4000 ft of ascending. I crawled home, meanwhile, Jake set off the very next day to conquer the Gore Range. Hope everyone is having a good end to the summer and we will see everyone far too shortly.

Training has been great so far. The snow is a little thin.
Schoz almost collided with our Chilean adopted dog Mushu. It was close but both Schoz and Mushu dodged and swerved well.

Mushu.... is that because he's a little porky?
- 8/13/10, from PantherFan
Mushu is the fittest spcimen of canine i have ever seen. He can run up a steep trail faster than the poma or chair can go. He jumped off the moving shuttle this am and hit the pavement rolling and then got up and beat the shuttle to the poma.
